Our FAQs
Where Do You Source Your Tallow From

We support local farmers and ranchers near the Akron/Cleveland, OH area. All of our
beef tallow comes from Duma Meats in Mogadore, OH.
					 What is Tallow?

Beef tallow is derived from the fatty tissues of cattle. Specifically, it comes from the suet,
or the fat around the kidneys and loins.
					 How is Your Tallow Processed?

Our tallow rendering involves slowly heating the fat until it melts and straining it to
remove any impurities. This process is repeated two to three times to ensure purity.
We then add in additional oils and fragrances and whip to a lovely consistency, packaged, and
sold to you.
How Can I Preserve My Tallow Cream Longer?

You can refrigerate tallow cream to extend its overall shelf-life, but keep in mind that it
might harden a bit when refrigerated.
How And Where Should I Store My Tallow Products?

Store in a cool, dry place. Extreme temperature fluctuations can affect the consistency of
the products.
Why Is My Tallow Cream Grainy?

Because we use no preservatives, tallow might get a bit grainy if exposed to extreme
temperatures. This does NOT mean that the product has “gone bad.”
Why is My Beard Balm Grainy?

Our natural, preservative-free formula, featuring tallow and shea butter, may feel grainy
at first due to temperature fluctuations. Don’t worry! This is a sign of our commitment to
natural ingredients. The low melting point ensures effortless application when warmed.
Simply rub the balm between your palms and it will melt beautifully to be applied to your
beard.
What Can I Do If My Products Become Grainy?

Tallow cream: scrape the balm into a microwave safe container, melt it until it is liquid
and rapidly cool it in your fridge or freezer.
You can leave the consistency for more of a
balm, or you can use a hand or stand mixer to whip the tallow to restore the state it was in
when you received it.
Beard balm: While imperfections can occur, our easy fix sets you back on track: melt the
balm gently in an oven or air fryer till it’s liquid and rapidly cool it in your fridge or
freezer. Now, enjoy your revitalized beard balm and a healthier, happier beard!
How Do I Know if My Products Have Gone Bad?

If your tallow products have a rancid smell or mold growth, then you should immediately
discontinue use and throw them away.
If this happens within the first 30 days of purchase, you can follow our 30 day return
policy for a full refund.
Should I Use Oil, Balm, or Both?

Redbeard suggests that it is good to alternate using both. His daily routine alternates back
and forth between oil and balm.
If Redbeard had to choose just one, it would be oil, but you can try both and see which
one is best for you.
What Should I Use As My Beard Gets Longer?

Faithful Tallow Co. suggests using oil for most days and balm when you need a little bit more hold.
There might be times in which both oil and beard can be used in one day. It depends on
each individual and how your face and beard feels. The longer the beard, the more
product you will probably need to use.
Can I Still Use Beard Balm or Oil if I Do Not Have a Beard?

Faithful Tallow Co. would suggest using oil, not balm, on a clean shaven face.
Our beard oil is non-comedogenic (will not clog pores) and can still be useful as an
aftershave. The oils we use still moisturize and reduce itching on a clean face, and our
scents are pleasing.
					 What Are Your Shipping Methods?

We use USPS and UPS, depending on which has the faster shipping time to your location.
We repurpose packaging materials like paper and biodegradable packing peanuts in our
boxes, to reduce our carbon footprint.
